Invermere main street up for repairs next week

Invermere’s gnarly main street (7th Avenue) is up for repairs beginning April 16, along with several other roadways and trails.

The District of Invermere announced April 10 it has organized road and other resurfacing work to be done over the next three weeks by contractor Terus Construction.

Subject to weather conditions, resurfacing will take place in the following areas, which are outlined in black on the map attached to this notice:

  • Athalmer Trails:

Monday, April 15 paving of the new Athalmer Trails will take place.

  • 7th Avenue and 12th Street:

Tuesday, April 16 the section from 4th Street to 9th Street will be partially resurfaced to repair damage;

Wednesday, April 17 the section from 9th Street to 10th Street will then be completely resurfaced;

Thursday, April 18t the section from 10th Street to 12th Street will then be completely resurfaced;

Friday, April 19 the intersection and cross-street of 12th Street will then be resurfaced – from the Cenotaph to 6th Avenue;

Monday, April 22 the section from 12th Street to 13th Street will then be completely resurfaced; and

Sometime between April 22 to 26 – subject to budget – the section from 14th Street to 15th Street will be resurfaced.

This work will require the sequenced closing of sections of 7th Avenue to vehicle traffic and parking while the road surface is being milled and new asphalt is being placed.

• Pineridge Drive near Westridge Way:

April 22 to May 3 – a section of Pineridge Drive near Westridge Way where the road surface has failed will be repaired and new asphalt will then be placed. This work will cause intermittent disruptions for motorists and vehicle traffic.

• 15th Avenue near Westside Park:

April 22 to May 3 – a section of 15th Avenue near Westside Park where the road surface has failed will be repaired and new asphalt will then be placed. This work will cause intermittent disruptions for motorists and vehicle traffic.

• Tennis Courts next to CPR Lodge:

April 22 to May 3 the Tennis Courts located next to the CPR Lodge in Fort Point will be completely resurfaced.

Other road repairs and resurfacing work may take place in Invermere if the work budget and schedule permits. Project updates may be posted on the District of Invermere’s Website and Facebook page, if required.

No-Parking signs will be posted in advance of road repairs and resurfacing to help ensure parked vehicles do not interfere with the work. Please pay careful attention to changes in traffic patterns near the areas described in this notice. The District of Invermere apologizes in advance for any traffic delays or disruptions this work may impose on the public.
