Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) board of directors this morning (Jan. 11) unanimously agreed to renew the lease for the Crossroads Ball Park with the Windermere and District Lions Club.

The lease is for 10-years, expiring April 14, 2029.

“This lease will allow for continued operation and maintenance of Crossroads Ball Park, which is widely used by a youth softball league, adult slow-pitch league and an annual Ballfest Tournament that the Lions Club hosts,” outlined RDEK environmental services manager Kevin Paterson in a report to the board.

The RDEK has been leasing the site since 2009 as a regional non-commercial, day use park, located to the southwest of the junction of Highway 93/95 and Athalmer Highway.
