Valley well appreciated: VAD in photos

It takes a special celebration to appreciate Rocky Mountain paradise.

Downtown Invermere was once again alive with a carnival atmosphere Saturday, July 23, during Valley Appreciation Day.

Beautifully merged with the Invermere Farmers’ Market, the closed downtown became a pleasant festival grounds with great grub, things to buy, music and other talents on display during the 29th annual running of the Columbia Valley Chamber of Commerce organized event.

Part of the fun included a volunteer-built jail cell housing some nefarious and surprising people, all raising funds for the Summit Youth Centre, and Canal Flats’ Gagne family logging show once again enthralled visitors and locals.

As usual, valley service club volunteers once again came together to serve up one of the biggest pancake breakfasts in the East Kootenay.
