Water Quality Advisory for some homes in Edgewater
Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) operators are responding to an emergency curbstop repair in Edgewater.
In order to facilitate the repair, an isolated section of the water system had to be shut down. This will affect all properties within the yellow line on the attached map.
Once they have completed the repair this afternoon and water service has been restored, out of an abundance of caution, a Water Quality Advisory will be in place for these affected homes (within yellow on the attached map).
For the affected properties, the RDEK and Interior Health recommend that children, the elderly, people with compromised immune systems, and anyone seeking additional protection drink boiled water or a safe alternative until further notice.
For these at-risk populations, water intended for drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice, or brushing teeth should be boiled at a rolling boil for one minute.
The Water Quality Advisory is in place ONLY for the properties outlined in yellow on the map. The remainder of the Edgewater Water System users are not affected.
The Water Quality Advisory will remain in effect until lab results are returned, which can take a few days.
The latest status of the Water Quality Notice can be found on the Water Quality Notices page on www.rdek.bc.ca.
