Cranbrook RCMP Report

The following is a synopsis of calls received by Cranbrook RCMP for the week (from 6 a.m.) March 20 to 6 a.m., March 27.

Police handled 135 calls for service throughout this week.

Among the calls police handled…

Three impaired drivers – alcohol and drugs.

Five collisions –Two in town and three outside of town. Minor damage and/or minor injuries.

Five Mental Health Act calls – two apprehended.

Four assault complaints: two domestic in nature where one person was arrested in each event; one assault and disturbance in local restaurant where one male was arrested and is being charged.

19 thefts reported: five shoplifting; three other thefts: two unfounded/one as a result of dispute between room mates; one report of a bike theft.

There were also two thefts of a motor vehicle reported. One vehicle was recovered in Surrey and is related to at least one of the thefts from a motor vehicle noted below. Charges are being forwarded for a local male. Another vehicle was reportedly stolen as owner left keys in it. The vehicle was recovered on King Street burned.

And there were eight thefts from motor vehicles – with the majority reported March 20. Among items stolen: Snowmobiling equipment including helmet, beacon, probe, loose change, garage door opener. This series precipitated my news release last week about vehicle theft increase.

One break and enter to a residence: nothing stolen and it may have been workers doing work on flooded basement.

Two reports of property damage: one in town and one out of town.

17 false alarms/ false 911 complaints.
