12-unit project for 6th Street NW passes three readings
City of Cranbrook council June 13 passed three readings of official community plan (OCP) and zoning amendments to facilitate a new low-density residential subdivision with approximately 12 lots.
The proposed OCP and zoning amendment applications pertain to the council approved sale of city land and the closure of part of land dedicated as 6th Street NW to enable land assembly of a new residential subdivision located at the northwest end of 6th Street NW.
On May 30, council gave second reading to ‘City of Cranbrook Official Community Plan Amendment Bylaw No. 4086, 2022,’ and first and second reading to ‘City of Cranbrook Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 4087, 2022,’ and referred both bylaw amendments to the Advisory Planning Commission for a recommendation.
Both amendments went under the scrutiny of a public hearing before the June 13 bylaw readings.
The Advisory Planning Commission considered the proposed OCP and Zoning amendments on June 6, and recommended approval of the amendments.
When passed the amendments will change the land use designation for part of the property from “Park/Institutional/Recreation” to “Low Density Residential,” and change the land use designation of a portion of designated road (6th Street NW) to “Low Density Residential.”
City of Cranbrook Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 4087, 2022 will change the zoning of parts of the property from “Community Recreation Zone: P-2,” to “Cluster Development Zone: R-3,” and to “Mobile Home and Single Family Residential Zone: R-7”; and change the zoning of a portion of designated road (6th Street NW) from “Community Recreation Zone: P-2,” to “Mobile Home and Single Family Residential Zone: R-7.”
