Alum donates 374 youth tickets; ICE match

The Kootenay ICE has announced that Cracknell’s Student of the Game will return for the second straight season.

ICE alumnus Adam Cracknell, a 10-year NHL veteran, has graciously donated 374 youth tickets for the 2018-19 season. The ICE will add 374 adult tickets to Adam’s generous donation, making it possible for an adult to accompany each student to the game. One child and one adult season ticket booklet will be distributed to each elementary school in the Cranbrook area.

Each school, however it sees fit, will delegate one youth ticket to a student per ICE home game. The selected student will also receive an adult ticket for their guardian.

“[The program] was well-received last year, the kids seemed to have a lot of fun and I kept getting updates throughout the season,” said Adam Cracknell. “[We’re] just excited to keep doing it again this year and keep kids interested in hockey and also bring their parents to the games.”

“Kootenay Christian Academy was blessed by the set of season tickets last year (one child, one adult). Thank you to Adam Cracknell,” said Wendy Zurrin, Principal at Kootenay Christian Academy. “Our school runs a ‘Caught you Caring’ program where students are recognized for caring, thoughtful behaviour. Each month these students were awarded with tickets to the upcoming hockey games. Parents were thrilled to be able to enjoy a game with their student!”

Zurrin added, “KCA thanks the Kootenay ICE and Adam Cracknell! We look forward to another great season!”

The ICE would like to thank Adam Cracknell and his family (pictured above) for their incredible generosity.

“Having Alumni that continue to be engaged in the community really speaks to the experience they had playing for the ICE and living in Cranbrook,” said Matt Cockell, President and General Manager. “We are thankful to Adam for his generosity and community leadership.”

Cracknell, 33, is currently a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs, having signed as a free agent July 1.
