‘Stewart in My Rear: More Irish Trouble in Northern Canada’ continues the chronically ill-fated yet hilarious adventures of Martin Maguire. This is the sixth book in the series, with more sure to come. Written by Cranbrook’s Brendan Gillen, this book has some serious moments, but is still very, very funny. ‘Stewart in My Rear’ is guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
Helen Mason’s new book follows a five-year-old boy whose family is forced to flee Syria during the civil war. ‘A Refugee’s Journey from Syria’ explains to younger readers what the world is currently doing for refugees, and what can be done in one’s own community.
Preschool Story Time is this Wednesday at 11 a.m., 1:15 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., and Toddler Story Time is 10 and 11 a.m. Both will be all about motorcycles and bicycles!
New this year is Baby Laptime on Fridays at 1 p.m. This program is for babies who are not yet walking so a specific age is not really set—best approximation is under one-year of age. Since we do not have daycare for older siblings we ask that parents who have babies and children who are walking come to the toddler storytime instead of the baby laptime.
Is your house and garage too full? Too many pots, pans, lamps, pictures, linens, tools, toys, jewelry, gardening supplies, etc. The Friends of the Library have a solution. Clear out your clutter and bring it to the Manual Training School (adjacent to the library) on Friday, April 28 from 1 to 6 p.m. Everything is welcome except large furniture. A giant Garage Sale will be held on Saturday, April 29 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Manual Training School. Come out and find those hidden treasurers! All proceeds from this sale will be used for programs and services at the Cranbrook Public Library.
