Baker Wild host annual tournament
The annual Mt. Baker Invitational Baseball Tournament was held April 26 – 28 at Cranbrook’s Confederation Park.
Joining the Mt. Baker Wild in the tourney were Kimberley’s Selkirk Storm, Trail’s J.L. Crowe Hawks and clubs from Coaldale, Cardston and Calgary, Alberta.
Mt. Baker Wild finished second in tourney play but lost to the PBF Redbirds of Calgary in the semi final round.
Cardston beat Coaldale in a battle of Alberta for bronze and the PBF Redbirds (pictured above) reclaimed gold for the fifth year in a row as they took the championship over the J.L Crowe Hawks.
It is the cap to a short high school ball season for the Cranbrook Wild but many will use it as a chance for spring training leading up to a season with the Cranbrook Bandits who are a travel team in the American Legion Baseball League.
Tryouts for the Bandits were held April 30 and again tomorrow, May 2.
