Bucks prepared for season opener Friday

The Cranbrook Bucks this afternoon announced it has shrunk its roster down to 24, as the BC Hockey League (BCHL) regular season arrives this Friday (Oct. 8).

The Bucks are now carrying 15 forwards, seven defensemen and 2 goalies.

“We are excited to move forward with our group into the regular season,” said head coach and GM Ryan Donald. “We had a lot of very difficult decisions to make which ultimately speaks to the strength of the individuals we have.”

The Bucks open the 2021/22 season with three local products in the line-up, all on defence; Cam Reid and Cole Assailly, both from Kimberley, and Cranbrook’s Quaid Anderson.

The Bucks welcome the Trail Smoke Eaters to Western Financial Place this Friday at 7 p.m. to launch the club’s first ‘normal’ BCHL season.

The two teams clash again Saturday, Oct. 9 at Trail’s Cominco Arena.
