CFES emergency preparedness grant application backed
City of Cranbrook council last night (Nov. 4) agreed to support Cranbrook Fire & Emergency Services in applying for the full amount of grant monies available through the Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) administered Community Emergency Preparedness Fund: Volunteer and Composite Fire Departments Equipment and Training Grant in 2019.
The Community Emergency Preparedness Fund (CEPF) a suite of funding programs intended to enhance the resiliency of local governments, First Nations and communities in responding to emergencies.
Funding is provided by the Province of B.C. and is administered by UBCM. The intent of this funding stream is to build the resiliency of volunteer and composite fire departments through the purchase of new or replacement equipment, and to facilitate the delivery of training and exercises.
The Volunteer & Composite Fire Departments Equipment & Training funding stream can contribute a maximum of 100% of the cost of eligible activities to a maximum of $25,000.
