CFKR connects with local professionals

The Community Foundation of the Kootenay Rockies held its second annual estate planning and charitable giving breakfast meeting, at the Ground Floor Coworking Space.

An early morning crowd of over 20 community professionals, including financial planners, bank managers, accountants, and lawyers, gathered to network and learn about the Community Foundation of the Kootenay Rockies (CFKR). The participants enjoyed the delicious breakfast, which was catered by Max’s Place.

The Community Foundation shared their sincere appreciation with Rella Paolini Rogers for generously sponsoring this event.

Al Dyck from A.C.Dyck Financial Services Inc. kindly donated his time and experience, serving as the morning’s guest speaker. Al shared his philosophical thoughts and real-life examples about estate planning and charitable giving.

Lynnette Wray, Community Foundation Executive Director, said “The Community Foundation of the Kootenay Rockies is an excellent option for people who want to make a lasting and sustainable charitable gift, whether it’s a donation now or a future gift, which is included in their will.”

The meeting also included a video, which summarized the opportunities community foundations provide for estate planning and charitable giving:

CRA-registered charity, the Community Foundation of the Kootenay Rockies is governed by a 13-member, volunteer Board of Directors and employs one staff person. CFKR holds a total of approximately $2.5 million in 39 permanently invested funds. Since its first community grants in 2004, the Community Foundation has shared almost $500,000 with local projects and programs in our communities.
