City not proposing homeless camp at JimSmith
The City of Cranbrook is not planning a homeless camp at JimSmith Lake Provincial Park, as per a recent letter to the editor published on e-KNOW.ca on Saturday, April 26.
Jimsmith Lake Park is outside the boundary of the City of Cranbrook and is solely under the jurisdiction of the Province of B.C., as are other nearby provincial parks such as Moyie Lake and Wasa Lake.
The City of Cranbrook is extremely disappointed that this type of blatant misinformation has been allowed to be published and shared online, which serves no purpose except to incite our residents and the public for absolutely no reason.
e-KNOW Editor’s note: I take fully responsibility for this grievous error. The letter in question was intended to be ‘scheduled’ or ‘pending’ before being published while we sought more details but I erroneously clicked ‘publish’ instead of an ‘ok’ tab that would have kept the item hidden from view.
I humbly apologize to the City of Cranbrook and to our readers for this empty-headed move.
The offending item has been trashed. – Ian Cobb
