Construction stayed strong to close 2017

Construction activity in the City of Cranbrook finished strong in 2017, chief administrative officer David Kim told council last night.

The fourth quarter of 2017 saw a total construction value of $6.5 million compared to $5.3 million for the fourth quarter of 2016.

The fourth quarter of 2017 saw eight new housing starts (all single family), compared to seven new starts (five single family, two mobile homes on foundations) in the fourth quarter of 2016.

A total of 51 building permits were issued in the fourth quarter of 2017 compared to 47 in the same time period in 2016, Kim reported.
