COTR hosting bigger and better Open House event
Rockies Fest Open House promises to be even more interactive and engaging
Mark November 19 on your calendar! College of the Rockies (COTR) will be hosting the Rockies Fest Open House from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Cranbrook main campus.
âWe frequently have people visit our campus who express surprise at our beautiful facilities and the technology and equipment available for teaching and learning,â said Jennifer Inglis, Recruitment Officer. âAfter two years of holding our Open House virtually, weâre excited to welcome the community back so we can show off all we have to offer. Whether youâre a potential student or not, I think youâll get a lot out of this Open House.â
Mini lectures and the opportunity to observe or try technologies like a welding simulator, augmented and virtual reality, and a birthing simulator mannequin used by health programs will be available and the Fire Services program will be on site with their fire truck and a jaws of life demonstration (weather permitting).
Discover how gamification can make even calculus more fun, take part in a lecture about film adaptation, discuss how marketing is impacted by new technologies, learn about how our Bachelor of Business Administration prepares you for the CPA program, our international study abroad opportunities, and so much more. Be sure to stop by the Practical Nursing table to get your blood pressure checked too.
Tours of our campus will take place every 30 minutes and you can check out our new mobile education lounge as well. As always vollege faculty and staff will be on hand to answer questions about programs and services for students.
Fun activities like Four Directions Jeopardy will take place in yaqakiÇ ÊitÌqawxaxamki (Place Where People Gather, formerly the Aboriginal Gathering Place) where you can also enjoy Indigenous music from Numa Kaâkin drummers while indulging in some freshly popped popcorn and cotton candy.
We invite you to stick around after Rockies Fest to cheer on our Avalanche volleyball teams. The womenâs team is currently 3-1 and the menâs team is 4-0. They will be taking on Capilano in the College gymnasium, starting at 1 p.m.
