Council approves DVP and permit for new building

City of Cranbrook council Sept. 20 approved a Development Variance Permit (DVP) to reduce the minimum parking stall requirements for a commercial development and a Highway Corridor Commercial Development Permit for commercial buildings and development.

Approval of both permits enables construction of a commercial building on 800 Cranbrook Street North, which will be a one-story commercial building with mezzanine is proposed to be constructed on site, situated along the northeast side of the property.

Applicant Jeremy Graham of Gray Box Properties Ltd. requested to vary the total number of parking spaces required for a proposed commercial development with a gross floor area of 1,265 m2 from 51 off-street parking stalls to 37 off-street parking stalls.

The proposed building will be comprised of three commercial retail units, including a showroom and warehouse.
