Cranbrook Arts turns 50 on the upswing

It’s 2023, and there is so much to look forward to, but before we share all the amazing things coming your way, we here at Cranbrook Arts would like to invite you to celebrate with us on our successful year of 2022.

We have grown in leaps and bounds this past year, with participation in numerous public events, additions to our staff, amazing gallery showings, a vibrant pottery membership, exciting art programming, and our Gift Shop keeps getting better and better.

This year is Cranbrook and District Arts Council’s 50th birthday, and we have big plans in the works to celebrate!

To kick off our 50th year, we are opening our Workshop doors every Wednesday afternoon from 12-4 for Open Studio – Makers Space, starting Jan 18.  Bring your own project to work on, use some of our in-house supplies to create a simple craft, or simply come to enjoy a coffee and socialize. In our Workshop you will have access to basic tools and materials. We can make this happen due to all the generous art supply donations we have received over the years.

Open Studio – Makers Space is Free for Cranbrook Arts members and by donation for the public.

As you can imagine the Christmas Season is very busy time in the Gift Shop. Thank you to all of our incredibly hardworking and dedicated volunteers who helped us keep things running smoothly.

The Gift Shop will be closed Jan. 1 – 14 for inventory and maintenance. Please visit us when we re-open for regular hours starting Wednesday, January 18, 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Any artists looking to pick-up their work at this time please email [email protected]. We are not accepting any new consignments during our closure.

Kristin has a fabulous line up in store for you in the Gallery for 2023.

Colleen and Laurie, two dedicated Volunteers.

We will be starting off with The Works of Adolphus Burton in partnership with the Cranbrook History Centre. Opening day is Jan. 13 with regular Gallery Hours being Friday 12:30 – 4 p.m., Sat. 10:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Sun. 12:30 – 4 p.m.

Stay tuned for dates for both our Show Reception and a Call to Artists for Reflecting at 50: Celebrating Cranbrook Arts 50th Anniversary.

In the Pottery, classes are filling up fast with our first two Wheel Classes selling out! We have wheel classes starting in Feb and Mar that are still open for registration, as well as, a variety of hand building and youth classes too.

All of us at Cranbrook Arts would like to extend a huge thank you to all of our dedicated volunteers, artists, sponsors, and partners, for your continued support. Beginning next month, you can look forward to meeting the people of Cranbrook Arts. Each month we will be highlighting members of our exceptional art community.

Wishing you all the best for 2023!
