Cranbrook Boys and Girls Club gets CGG windfall
The Cranbrook Boys and Girls Club has received a Community Gaming Grant from the B.C. government worth a total of $29,000.
The money will make a big difference for the club, said Gord Johnston, Executive Director for Cranbrook Boys and Girls Club.
“It is always a struggle to finance quality after-school programming. The Community Gaming Grant makes a huge difference by supporting these programs for Cranbrook kids. MLA Bennett and his staff team have provided the opportunity to discuss the merits of after-school programming and followed through with their endorsement and support for The Cranbrook Boys and Girls Club,” Johnston stated.
Across British Columbia, 117 recipients will share $4,813,400 in the latest round of grants.
Recipients in this round of grants include programs for Human and Social Services.
Community Gaming Grants help local groups provide important services for British Columbia families.
“The Boys and Girls Club of Cranbrook does excellent work in our community. This committed group and its passionate volunteers really deserve this funding,” said Kootenay East MLA Bill Bennett.
Community Gaming Grants allow non-profit organizations to apply for provincial gaming revenues.
Last fiscal year, in 2011/12, our government distributed a total of $135 million in gaming grants for eligible community programs and services.
More than 5,300 community groups benefited from funding during 2011/12.
