Cranbrook RCMP attend 500 calls in two weeks
Over the past 14 days (August 25 to Sept. 8) Cranbrook RCMP officers responded to 500 calls for service.
Our members responded to a wide variety of calls as well as engaged in proactive policing, and events throughout the community.

Calls of note included:
- While conducting patrols a Cranbrook RCMP officer observed a suspicious male putting on a face covering. The officer confirmed the identity of the individual and found that he was breaching a court order. The individual fled from the officer and a foot pursuit ensued, unfortunately resulting in the officer sustaining injuries to his arm and shoulder. The officer has since recovered and returned to duty.
- A prisoner requiring medical attention was transported to EKRH, where he proceeded to attempt an escape from lawful custody. Following a foot pursuit, he was apprehended and returned to custody.
- In addition to the calls for service, proactive patrols, and curfew checks (resulting in breach charges being forwarded), check stops resulted in five Immediate Roadside Prohibitions (IRPs) being issued and four Vehicle Impoundments for Driving While Disqualified.
Our officers also booked 29 individuals into Cranbrook cells including seven individuals held for public intoxication, 14 arrested on outstanding warrants, two individuals were held on mischief charges and two for breaching probation and another two individuals were remanded and sent to Alberta for proceedings.
Highlights for us included our officers volunteering and raising $1,407.75 at the Cops for Kids Charity BBQ. Meeting students as they returned to school and a guest speaker spot at Laurie Middle School!
