Cranbrook RCMP Report

The following is a synopsis of calls reported to Cranbrook RCMP for the period between 6 a.m. Oct. 29 to Nov. 5, at 6 a.m.
Calls for Service: 126
One collision in the city: A cyclist was struck by a vehicle and suffered a minor injury. The driver stayed on scene to take cyclist to hospital, waited with them at emergency until X rays were obtained, then bought the cyclist a dinner.
Two collisions outside the city: A driver went off road to avoid wildlife on Highway 95A, no injuries; and a driver went off road after getting confused at an interchange, no injuries.
Nine driving complaints: Four in the city and five outside the city.
One hit and run: A guard rail behind Sport Check loading dock struck by vehicle – possible it was a red Pontiac G6 – over the past day or two. Anyone with information please call the Cranbrook Detachment.
Three assaults: One incident involved a physical fight that led to retaliation involving a firearm in a rural area of Cranbrook. All related parties have been arrested and are facing numerous charges. The firearm was not used in injuring anyone. A student was assaulted by another student, School Liaison Officer involved in this issue; and an assault on a family member by another, minor in nature, no injuries.
Five thefts.
One shoplifting.
One theft from auto: An unlocked vehicle was rummaged through and various items were taken (jacket, knives, range finder, blue tooth receiver and change.
Two theft other: A Pelican kayak stolen from a back yard; and tire rims stolen from a recycle bin, suspect was warned as per wishes of complainant.
One theft bicycle: Two bicycles stolen at the same time,; a Norco 250 with chrome and red spoke tires and a BMX mat red bike with white tires taken in front of the Baker Hotel.
Two break and enter to residence: Including an intoxicated family member breaking into house to pass out; and a suspect walked into a residence through a patio door, stole two packs of cigarettes and lighters, departed.
One damage to property: A vehicle was keyed over two months ago; suspects possibly identified through idiotic comments on social media.
17 false alarms and false 911 calls.
