Cranbrook RCMP Report
The following is a synopsis of calls reported to Cranbrook RCMP for the period between 6 a.m. Nov. 19 to Nov. 26, at 6 a.m.
Calls for Service: 120
Three collisions in the city: A pedestrian was struck while in a crosswalk; injuries not life threatening and the driver was charged under the Motor Vehicle Act. A vehicle hit a deer, causing property damage only. And there was a three-vehicle accident resulting in one driver being charged under the Motor Vehicle Act, with property damage and/or minor injuries reported.
One collisions outside the city: A vehicle lost control after hitting black ice and hit a hydro box, no injuries and minor damage to vehicle and hydro box.
16 driving complaints: 10 in the city and six outside the city.
Two hit and runs: On Nov. 21, a white pick up truck struck a white sedan on 7th Avenue S at 2nd Street S after allegedly running a stop sign. The white pick up truck fled. Damage to the suspect vehicle likely on the rear passenger side of the truck. No other description could be provided. On Nov. 24, a blue Dodge pick up had run the stop sign on 7th Ave S at Van Horne and clipped the rear of a blue Jeep. The suspect fled. No injuries reported in either incident.
Four assaults: Including a domestic assault; an assault at a school still under investigation; assault where parties were known to each other; and a fight at a local establishment, with minor injuries and no charges.
Six thefts.
Three shoplifting.
One attempted theft from auto: An attempted theft from vehicles, where a suspect was observed to be trying car doors. No entry made according to the complainant.
Two thefts other: Including theft of a credit card that was used at local stores. It is still under investigation. And theft of cash when victim left wallet unattended for a few minutes in bathroom at the mall.
One break and enter to residence: On Nov. 24, Cranbrook RCMP received a report of a break and enter to a residence that was in progress. Cranbrook RCMP General Duty and Police Dog Service responded and arrested the youth suspect. The youth is facing charge of Break and Enter to Residence and possession of stolen property.
Two damage to property: Tires slashed at a local establishment parking lot, suspect was arrested and facing charge of mischief; lug nuts loosened on a vehicle and starter wires pulled.
14 false alarms and false 911 calls.
