Cranbrook RCMP Report

The following is a synopsis of calls received by Cranbrook RCMP for the week (from 6 a.m.) June 12 to 6 a.m., June 19.

Police handled 194 calls for service throughout this week. The highest call volume was on June 17 with 44 calls.

Among the calls police handled…

Six road checks were conducted on Sam Steele weekend with five impaired drivers: two 24-hour driving suspensions, two three-day driving suspensions, one 90-day driving suspension with a 30-day vehicle impound.

11 collisions: seven in town, all minor, one of which was alcohol related. Four in the rural area. Three of the 11 resulted in minor injuries.

Nine Mental Health Act calls – two apprehensions and two assist East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

Six assault complaints: two resulting in charge recommendations.

18 thefts reported: six shoplifting; five thefts from motor vehicles: (Please lock your vehicles and remove valuables from sight – these are crimes of opportunity and they can be reduced by keeping a clean interior!); four other thefts under $5,000; and one theft of a vehicle that was later located burned – investigation ongoing.

Two break and enter to residence.

Six reports of property damage: one mischief to a vehicle, four mischief to a business, one other.

Three drug seizures ; two cannabis, one cocaine.

12 false alarms/ false 911 complaints.
