Cranbrook RCMP Report

The following is a synopsis of calls received by Cranbrook RCMP for the week (from 6 a.m.) May 14 to 6 a.m., May 21.

Police handled 192 calls for service throughout this week.

Among the calls police handled…

22 impaired driving:   Alcohol – two in the city and 20 out around Lake Koocanusa. Click here for more info.

Four collisions in the city: A cyclist was hit walking her bike on across the crosswalk causing a minor injury; a report of two drivers yelling at each other after vehicle bumped by another, both left before police arrived; two parking lot fender benders.

Four collisions outside the city: An ATV rolled due to medical condition; a single vehicle off highway due to hydro planning; an ATV rollover at Umbrella Beach; a vehicle off highway due to driving too fast.

One hit and run: Parking lot hit and run. Suspect identified and charged under the Motor Vehicle Act.

Four assaults:   one domestic assault with one person arrested; one assault where involved parties wereknown to each other; two assaults between family members.

Nine Mental Health Act related calls:  two assist East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

12 thefts.

Three thefts of autos:   two unfounded/ one still under investigation but vehicle was located.

Five thefts from autos: fuel theft/ wallet stolen from unlocked vehicle/ sunglasses and tool kit stolen/ two license plates stolen.

Four thefts other: Including a theft of valuables unfounded; theft of purse from church; theft of cell phone where parties were known to each other.

One break and enter to business: A break in to a vacant building on Theatre Road where an old lap top computer of little value was stolen.

Eight damage to property: Two vehicle windows broken/ a school spray painted, still under investigation/ windows broken at local restaurant, male charged/ Male shooting golf balls at his neighbour’s house, male charged.

17 false alarms and false 911 calls.
