Ecofish calling Cranbrook home

Environmental consulting firm opens new Kootenays office

Ecofish Research, a Vancouver-based science and environmental consulting firm, is opening its doors to Cranbrook to better serve two of its biggest clients in the area, BC Hydro and Teck, as well as others in the Kootenays and southern British Columbia.

The company has worked to reduce the impact of industry on the environment through assessment, monitoring, mitigation, off-setting and design services for more than a decade and will strengthen its ability to do so through its eighth location.

“We already work with clients in the Kootenays, so we’re excited to have a new, local office that will position our scientists to help clients solve key environmental challenges at project sites in a cost-effective and efficient way,” said Ecofish President Adam Lewis.

Andrew Harwood (Ph.D., R.P Bio), a veteran Senior Fisheries Scientist with 17 years of experience, will spearhead projects out of the new location along with a team of experts.

“I look forward to working with government, local clients and First Nations to help industry thrive while also preserving and protecting the natural environment of the Kootenays and southern B.C.,” said Harwood (pictured above).

Ecofish will expand the Cranbrook team to more than six employees over the next year, which will help the company address key environmental challenges in the region and support the local economy and community.

Ecofish’s team of more than 75 international scientists has worked with clients to protect and preserve British Columbia’s natural environment for the past decade. It has also been a key player in developing both provincial and national guidelines for assessment and monitoring.

Ecofish has offices in Vancouver, Toronto, Victoria, Squamish, Courtenay, Terrace, Campbell River and Cranbrook.

The new office is located at Suite 202, 13-14th Ave South and is open to meet the needs of clients in the region.
