Elementary school parents holding civil protest

Parents of students in Amy Woodland Elementary School announced this morning they will be staging a civil protest May 31 to try and bring awareness to the ongoing issues of speeders and reckless drivers around the school.

The parents will be holding the civil protest on Thursday, May 31 in front of the school along 11th Avenue.

“This is due to the fact SUZIE (a cross walk indicating wooden cutout of a child pictured above) has been knocked down for the fifth time this year,” stated Tamara Cartwright on behalf of the parents.

“We will be standing out at 2:45 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. to raise awareness and to remind people to slow down; this is a school zone that has 300 children who attend – walking and riding daily to school,” Cartwright said.
