Expect minor delays downtown

Clean-up from this week’s double whammy of winter weather continues around the City of Cranbrook today.

Public Works began organizing a large crew of dump trucks and loaders earlier this morning to begin removing the large windrows through the downtown core. Streets downtown being cleared will be closed temporarily during the snow removal operations. Drivers are please asked to respect any signage and find an alternate route to your stop downtown today.

Roads around the city are in reasonable shape given this week’s weather. BC Transit services are in full operation today.

Meantime, with the milder weather and some melting expected over the next few days, residents and businesses who have storm sewer drain access in front of their properties are asked to help us out by clearing those drains, if at all possible.

If you spot any large water pools on streets, please contact Public Works at 250-489-0218 during regular business hours. For any after hours and weekend reporting, please call 250-426-1022. Crews will do their best to attend those sites and work to allow the water to flow to the drains.

Western Financial Place is now open for walkers and those using the squash courts. The aquatic centre opened for swimming at 11 a.m.
