Four new fires near Moyie Lake

The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) is reporting a new cluster of lightning-caused wildfires on all sides of Moyie Lake.

The largest of the four fires (as of 9:40 p.m. August 7), at about five hectares is in Lamb Creek, in the hills west of Moyie Lake.

The second largest is on Moyie Mountain (one acre), at the northeast corner of the Lake.

The other fires are smaller located in or near the Barkshanty Forest Service Road (.01 hectares), about five km northeast of Moyie and Sunrise Creek (.01 ha) south of Moyie Lake.

The BCWS also notes there is a new fire (.01 ha) near the Elk River on the northwest side of the Highway 93 bridge, east of Kragmont.
