Homelessness task force dives into work

The Mayor’s Task Force on Homelessness and Community Safety and Wellbeing held their second meeting February 14.

The Task Force is a voluntary and diverse group of community leaders entrusted to identify three-to-five specific actions that advance the safety, inclusion, and social and economic wellbeing of all members of the community, develop a plan on how to accomplish them, and then execute the plan in an efficient and timely manner.

Previous Information-gathering events provided a broad range of recommendations and helped to ensure that the voices of those with lived and living experience and across all community sectors were heard.

The group used a matrix approach to identify high feasibility/high impact recommendations. Debate on the merits and value of each recommendation will occur at the next scheduled meeting and will narrow down the options.

Deciding on the recommended actions to move forward with will be decided through majority vote.

The meetings will continue every two weeks until the Task Force has met its objectives and has been decommissioned by the Mayor and City of Cranbrook council.
