ICE begin 2018 with key divisional matchup at home

The Kootenay ICE will ring in 2018 with a key Central Division New Year’s Day game against the Medicine Hat Tigers.

This will be the third meeting of the season between the ICE and the Tigers and the first time both teams have met at Western Financial Place. The Tigers currently sit in first place in the Western Hockey League Central Division – the ICE trail the Tigers by four points.

ICE fans are encouraged to wear festive apparel and clothing to celebrate the New Year! The fan with the best New Year’s celebration clothing will receive a $50 gift card to the ICE Gear Store. In addition, second place will receive a $25 gift card to Don Cherry’s Sports Grill. The winners will be announced live during the third period.

Please note that puck drop is scheduled for 4 p.m.

The ICE encourage fans to purchase tickets online at ICEcountry.ca to avoid lineups at the box office. The ICE Gear Store opens at 1 p.m. on New Year’s Day while the box office will open at 2 p.m.

After the January 1 game the ICE don’t play at home until Sunday, January 14 against the Saskatoon Blades. That game is a Family Fun Day game presented by Ktunaxa Nation Council and it’s also Billet Recognition Night.
