ICE hosting Cranbrook Colts night Friday
The Kootenay ICE is hosting the Cranbrook Colts Jon Klemm Bobblehead Night on Friday, November 16 with puck drop scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Cranbrook Colts were formed in 1971 and joined the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League. The Colts wasted no time winning championships, capturing the league title in its first four years of existence. In 1991, the Colts jumped to the Rocky Mountain Junior Hockey League and won three titles in seven years.
In total, from 1971 to 1998, the Colts franchise captured 14 league titles and seven provincial championships.
All former Colts players and staff are invited to the game. Those individuals are encouraged to contact the ICE Gear Store at 250-417-0322 and should provide their name and what year they played for the team.
All former Colts players and staff who register their name at the ICE Gear Store will be given one complimentary ticket to the game. Any family members or others joining them will receive 15% off individual game tickets to that specific game.
All former Colts players and staff in attendance are also encouraged to wear their old Colts uniforms.
In honour of the Cranbrook Colts, and to celebrate this special night, ICE players will be wearing unique limited-edition red Colts jerseys against the Calgary Hitmen.
Those jerseys will be worn two other times during the 2018-19 regular season. The jerseys will be part of a silent auction near the end of the 2018-19 regular season; 100% of the net proceeds from the auction will go towards the ICE Education Fund, which helps support ICE player’s post-secondary education.
In addition, 1,000 Jon Klemm mini bobblehead dolls will be given out during the game. Everyone with a ticket to the game will have a chance to take one home.
Coloured tickets will be distributed upon entry to Western Financial Place on Friday, November 16. The winners will be announced during the first period. You must be present and show your winning ticket at the ICE tent on the concourse of Western Financial Place to receive a bobblehead.
Adding to this special night will be the ICE House Band, the Mile High Band, who will be playing live music prior to the game, as well as during the first and second intermission.
