ICE recall prospect who’s tearing up CSSHL

The Kootenay ICE has recalled 2002-born forward Owen Pederson for the remainder of the 2018-19 Western Hockey League season.

The ICE selected Pederson in the fifth round (89th overall) in the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft.

This season, Pederson has registered 11 goals and 19 assists for 30 points in 18 games with OHA Edmonton Prep of the CSSHL. He also played in eight games with the ICE, scoring two goals.

“Owen’s continued development the first half of the season has shown us that he is ready for this opportunity,” said Matt Cockell, President and General Manager. “We would like to thank OHA Edmonton and coach Randall Weber for the support they have provided Owen in his development as a student athlete.”

“The OHA Edmonton program and our midget prep team are excited for Owen, it is always rewarding to see a player progress to the next level,” said Randall Weber, OHA Edmonton Midget Prep Head Coach.

The next home game for the ICE is the ICE Clothing Drive Night on Friday, December 29 against the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
