Injured snowmobiler rescued in joint effort up Perry Creek

Around 12:30 p.m. on March 6, Cranbrook Search and Rescue (SAR) was called out for a serious snowmobile accident up Perry Creek Forest Service Road.

A crew responded to the airport to meet Eclipse Helicopters who flew in with an Avalanche Technician, a Rescue Technician, and a BCEHS Advanced Care Paramedic.

Ground crews, along with Kimberley SAR, responded to a staging area with snowmobiles and a tracked side-by-side.

The flight crew was able to make contact with STARS Air Ambulance and located the scene. Once on scene crews decided due to the nature of the subject’s injuries it would be best for the STARS crew to fly the patient to a hospital in Calgary.

All worked together to get the subject loaded into the helicopter and was able to further stabilize them.

We would like to thank our partners at Eclipse Helicopters, BCEHS, STARS Air Ambulance, as well as bystanders for a well-coordinated scene.
