Kootenay Orchards students Mind up for EKFH

The Grade 4 class at Kootenay Orchard Elementary School recently completed the Mind Up program. Focused on mindfulness, brain science and planned kindness and understanding, the program concludes with a chosen mindful act of kindness to perform. Every class brainstorms, votes, plans and implements their chosen act of kindness.

Ms. Thomson and Mr. Standing’s Grade 4 class along with the help of Mrs. Reid chose to fundraise for the East Kootenay Foundation for Health with a popcorn sale at recess and lunch. Students planned, made posters, wrote and read school announcements, made and sold the popcorn, cleaned up and counted their profits. They made $233.05 and presented a cheque to EKFH Executive Director Brenna Baker.

We would like to send a huge thank you to all the students, staff, administration and families of Kootenay Orchard School for supporting this activity.
