Cranbrook’s Kootenay Orchards Elementary School was June 3 proclaimed the 2019 Bike to School Challenge champion.

A surprise presentation was made to the students and staff yesterday afternoon on the lower playground of Kootenay Orchards School.

Making the announcement a surprise, school principal David Standing asked all staff and students to gather. When all assembled, a special convoy of police cruisers, the We-Bike Trailer and We-Bike Coaches on bikes paraded into the school yard leading up to a formal presentation of the 2019 Bike to School Challenge trophy, sponsored by We-Bike, Cranbrook RCMP and Sunrise Rotary Club of Cranbrook.

We-Bike sends big high fives to all the Cranbrook elementary school students who rode their bikes to school during Bike to School week!

“The kids were so excited that their school won,” said Mel McFarlane of We-Bike.

Every student received a DQ treat and one class gets a pizza party treat.

“It was so much fun, we can’t wait for next year’s Bike to School Challenge,” McFarlane said
