Local brewers capture national gold

Fisher Peak Brewing Company has captured a national award for one of its locally produced beers.

The downtown Cranbrook-based business was presented with a gold medal for its ‘Scottish Ale beer’ during the 16th annual Canadian Brewing Awards & Conference May 24-26 at the Halifax Convention Centre in Nova Scotia.

“World class and exceptional is how the Scottish Ale beer from our very own Fisher Peak Brewing Co. was rated by world class judges at the Canadian Brewing awards this weekend,” Fisher Peak Brewing Company (The HeidOut Restaurant and Brewhouse) shared on social media this morning.

“With over 2,000 entries, the who’s who of the Canadian brewing world, Cranbrooks’ own small town brewery brings home the hardware! When asked by big distributors in Montreal and Toronto where you can get Fisher Peak beer, we just smile and tell them ‘only in Cranbrook of course.’”

Fisher Peak won Category 19 – Scotch Ale, with Ontario brewery Niagara College Teaching Brewery and Saskatchewan’s Bushwakker Brewing Company Ltd. taking second and third.

Fisher Peak Brewing’s brewmaster is Jordan Aasland.
