Local invited to try out for U-18 Team Canada
Cranbrookâs Jaimee Spring is one of 46 players to be invited to the National Womenâs Under 18 Team Summer Development Camp that starts on July 26Â and runs until August 6.
Jaimee and 13 other defenders will get a chance to show Hockey Canada why they should be on the final roster that will compete at the 2022 IIHF U18 Womenâs World Championship set to be held in Linkoping and Mjolby, Sweden from January 8 to 15, 2022.
Jaimee, who played all her minor hockey in Cranbrook and Kimberley until this past season when she played for Edge Academy U18 Prep Team in Calgary is one of only five, 2005 born players to get the invite to the Team Canada camp.
Womenâs U18, NextGen (born in 2003), Development and Senior National Teams will all head to Calgary for the on and off-ice activities.
âThis yearâs summer camps will mark the first time that all levels of the National Womenâs Program will participate in camp at the same time, helping us provide consistency with all our athletes and staff throughout the program,â said Gina Kingsbury (Rouyn-Noranda, Que.), director or womenâs national teams.
