Male in custody after gas station robbery

Cranbrook RCMP currently has one male in custody after a robbery at a local gas station.

rcmp-logoAt about 9:58 a.m. Cranbrook RCMP received a call from the Esso Food and Stuff located on Van Horne Street in Cranbrook (pictured above). RCMP was advised that the male threatened staff and then grabbed items from behind the counter before taking off on foot toward 8th Ave S.

Cranbrook RCMP immediately set up containment in the area and called the Police Dog Service to attend. The suspect was subsequently located in the 100 Block of Cranbrook St. N where he was arrested for robbery.

The male, a 37-year-old resident of Cranbrook, will be held pending a hearing before a judge or justice of the peace.
