McPhee Road Corridor Improvements starting soon

The new multi-use pathway on McPhee Road between Theatre Road to Industrial Road F is set to begin construction the week of August 10, working through to a mid-September completion.

The contractor, Terus, will need to close McPhee Road from Theatre Road through to Industrial Road F for the duration of the construction. Residents and businesses impacted by this project will only be able to access Highway 3 via Industrial Road 2 to 6th Street NW.

The McPhee Road Corridor Improvement project, funded in part by a $500,000 grant from the BC Active Transportation Infrastructure Grants program, will include new curb, gutter, asphalt, and signage, with the multi-use pathway to be raised and separated from the driving lanes along McPhee Road to promote safe active transportation.

Along with construction of the pathway to be located on the north east side of McPhee Road, the city will also be resurfacing this portion of McPhee as the roadway has reached its end of life.

The B.C. Active Transportation Infrastructure Grants program supports Indigenous, local, and regional governments with cost-shared funding of up to $500,000 for infrastructure projects and up to $50,000 for developing active transportation network plans. The goal is to make walking, cycling, and other forms of active travel safer and more accessible across communities.
