Meet Kyla Cornish: Mommy is Weird

East Kootenay News Online Weekly (e-KNOW) is proud to welcome Cranbrook resident Kyla Cornish to our Writers’ Village.

Kyla has been published in a series of funny blogger e-books, “Life Well Blogged.” She has also been recognized as one of the Top 25 Funny Moms in Canada and U.S. by Circle of Moms.

Kyla’s hilarious blogging talents (Mommy is Weird) will be shared in weekend editions of e-KNOW.

In her own words…

KylaCornishFunny things happen to me.

They just do.

I started this blog while on hiatus from my radio job, needing to replace some sort of creativity in my life while on mat leave.

I’m selfish and sarcastic and I love to laugh at myself, including my own jokes. But, please don’t take this blog too seriously. It’s a bit of an alter ego to my real self. My friends and family know who I am and love me for me.

With more and more people reading my blog, becoming published in books and winning numerous blogging awards, I sometimes get nervous about people knowing about my blog. A good friend understood my fears and said, “Kind of how Madonna must feel about her kids watching “Truth or Dare?” Um, EXACTLY.

Please note: I am not comparing myself to Madonna, but we do have the same breasts.

Recently I met someone in real life who was shocked that I was “Mommy’s Weird.” She expected me to be “rougher.” I have also been referred to as “Canada’s Version of The Bloggess.” If you don’t know who she is, well she is the best of the best. Let me assure you I am neither of those things.

I am just me.

I’m a 30-something Momma; married eight years to Zed with two kids. Three year old, Whirlwind and seven month old Baby Bot.

Sidenote: My grammar/grammer sucks. I’m trying; bear/bare with me. I’m not a writer. I’m a talker.

Here is the story behind the name Mommy’s Weird.

Sometimes people want to contact me for media, reviews, rate cards, advertising or to be my best friend. All are welcome, except spam, I’m not a fan, unless we are talking about the meat and I then I say, “bring it, with pickles and mayo, please.”

I am a humour blogger, but Mommy’s Weird has some bills and therefore will do the odd product review for compensation. I will always disclose that I am doing so, and I will never review a product that won’t let me be honest and funny.
