Part of 9th Ave. S closing Dec. 6 for new water service install

The City of Cranbrook reports 9th Avenue South from Baker Street to 1st Street South will be open to local traffic only from Wednesday, December 6 ending Friday, December 8, for a water service installation project.

Contractors will be working to bring a new water service line into the new Ktunaxa Health Centre, located in the former Mega Deal Furniture building.

Traffic will be able to access 9th Avenue South and businesses located there from either end of street, however there will be no through traffic allowed. Signage will be in place. Drivers are asked to please avoid this area as much as possible to help reduce any traffic congestion.

As with any work on the city’s water system, once the new water service line is charged, nearby residents and businesses may notice some discoloured water for a very brief period. If you do experience discoloured water, please run your cold water until the water runs clear.

We appreciate the patience and understanding of those businesses being impacted by this project.
