Patient lift on its way thanks to $10,500 in Tim Hortons Smile Cookies

It was all smiles at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital this past Thursday when managers from the local Tim Hortons franchises, Matt Gareau, Denis Demers, Nancy Lascak, and Maricris Monsales arrived to present a $10,500 cheque to the Cranbrook Health Care Auxiliary and East Kootenay Foundation for Health.

The healthy donation is a result of the huge public support purchasing cases, dozens, ½ dozens and individual yummy  chocolate chunk smile cookies from either Tim ‘s locations, the Auxiliary hospital table sales or EKFH’s case orders.

The fundraising effort is part of the annual Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign.   The $1 treat helps charities, hospitals and community programs across Canada in the cities where they are sold.

Thanks to the generosity of the Gareau family and the Cranbrook Tim Hortons outlets, all proceeds from the 2012 Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign are going to purchase a portable patient lift for the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.   This lift can be used to transport patients out of bed, from bed to wheelchair, to bathing and will be utilized on several floors.

Tim Hortons, CHCA and EKFH also want to thank members of the Kootenay ICE who joined in to pour coffee and encourage the sales of the delicious cookies.  A long standing cookie tradition is alive and well in Cranbrook and your $1 can and did make a difference in our community.   We hope to see you again next  year!
