Police believe rash of recent B&Es related

The following is a synopsis of calls received by Cranbrook RCMP for the week (from 6 a.m.) Sept. 26 to 6 a.m., Oct. 3.

The detachment received 192 calls for service throughout that period.

One impaired driver – alcohol.

Five collisions – four in town; drivers charged in three of the accidents. One collision involved a deer and one accident involving a deer out of town …no major damage or injuries in these collisions.

One hit and run incident. A parked, unattended vehicle was struck by another vehicle. Orange paint left behind by suspect vehicle.

19 Mental Health Act calls – nine apprehended.

Six assault complaints: four domestic in nature (in two of the incidents arrests were made).

13 thefts reported.

Three thefts of a vehicle: two were recovered within a day of being reported stolen. The other is still outstanding, a blue 1998 Ford F150 XLT, B.C. license plate KB2056…this was posted to Twitter… Reminder to drivers to not leave their keys in the vehicle, it may affect your insurance claim.

Two bicycle thefts…neither were locked up, one has been recovered and returned to owner.

Five thefts from vehicles various places in town. One male was arrested after being found rummaging through a vehicle. The male was in possession of stolen property and later released on conditions to attend court for various charges. This male was not responsible for all the thefts that were reported.

Five break and enters / or attempts reported: four to businesses and one to a residence.

One attempted break and enter to Tamarack Mall. (Above image is security camera footage of the attempted break and enter.)

One break and enter to a business on Theatre Road; nothing stolen.

One attempted break and enter to Fort Steele Resort and RV Park.

One break and enter to the Jaffray Pump and Pantry; car wash coin machines were broken into and undisclosed amount of change was taken.

One break and enter into the attached garage of a residence, vehicle inside was rummaged through and jackets were stolen.

Police believe that all the break and enters reported as well as some of the thefts are related to each other. Credit cards stolen from inside one of the vehicles and used a several local businesses. RCMP is continuing to investigate and hope to have the suspects identified in the near future.

Seven reports of property damage: charges forthcoming in three of these.

Four drug seizures: marijuana.

One drug trafficking charge – marijuana.

22 false alarms/ false 911 complaints.

Four persons arrested for intoxication in public place.
