A special retirement ceremony is being held for a local officer Tuesday, Nov. 7.

Cranbrook RCMP, Summit Community Services Society and Therapeutic Paws of Canada Cranbrook/Kimberley are celebrating the retirement of service dog West.

The celebration begins at 11:30 a.m. at the Cranbrook RCMP Detachment, where an honour guard will begin West’s farewell from service after six years on the job.

Following that the celebration will move to Rotary Park for cupcakes and opportunities for people to offer West best wishes in retirement.
