Rockyview Official Community Plan process relaunched
After a temporary pause, the Rockyview Official Community Plan (OCP) process is being relaunched.
The OCP planning project was initiated during the first half of 2023 to update the Rockyview OCP and consolidate it with the Moyie and Area OCP; however, it was put on hold due to staffing changes.
“We have a new Planner on staff and are excited to dive back into the planning process,” said Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) Electoral Area C Director Rob Gay.
“When we started the process, we received valuable information through the community engagement and that early input remains valuable. We are now looking to build on that foundation as we work toward completing the plan.”
Over the coming weeks, there will be several engagement opportunities scheduled including open houses and invitational meetings.
“We are hoping to see strong involvement so that we can build on what we learned early-on in the process and ensure we hear diverse points of view, ideas, and information,” added Gay.
Engagement opportunities will be held for residents, First Nations, government agencies, and interest-holders from across the OCP area starting in late August and through the fall.
The revised Official Community Plan will update the Rockyview OCP and consolidate it with the Moyie & Area OCP. Details about the OCP, including future engagement opportunities as they become available, can be found on the project page: engage.rdek.bc.ca/rockyview.
A draft of the Rockyview OCP is anticipated to be complete early in 2026 for review by the RDEK Board of Directors and public before moving into the formal adoption process.
