Sam Steele Days runs June 13-16

Time to get your buttons.

Cranbrook’s biggest celebration of the year runs June 13-16.

Sam Steele Days 2019 promises to be a wild and woolly weekend with more than 50 events being planned with the theme: Celebrating the Spirit of Cranbrook.

Things get rolling tomorrow, Thursday, June 13 at Tamarack Centre for the Sam Steele Days kick-off pancake breakfast, starting at 8 a.m. and running to 10 a.m. Enjoy with fruit sauces and whipped cream, farmers sausage, coffee, tea and juice. All of the proceeds raised for breakfast will benefit the 4th Cranbrook Scouts.

Buy your Sam Steele button or face the wrath of Jailer Wheeldon.

And starting at 11:30 a.m. at Tamarack Centre is the kick-off barbecue, running to 1:30 p.m. Come and grab a hamburger, hotdog or beverage while you are out exploring the festivities for this amazing weekend of events. All of the proceeds raised for this BBQ will benefit East Kootenay Friends of Children.

Make sure to come down for the live music and kids activities while you are here too. Both events will be outside by the Winners Store entrance of the Tamarack Centre, however, in case of inclement weather, tables will be inside.

As usual, Sam Steele Days will feature a host of sports tourneys, including the Sam Steele Ball Tournament, the Balls of Steele Bocce Tournament, the KEYSA soccer tourney and Fitness Inc’s annual Strongman Classic.

The Sam Steele Days Grand Parade begins 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 15, with the market and a plethora of fun and games and food on hand at Balment Park; and don’t forget the fun on Sunday, too, also in Balment Park.
