I wish this was a post about a super hot Dad hitting on me at kindergarten pick up.
Sadly, not the case…
Whirlwind started school this fall and its been… interesting.
Interesting for me, because it brought back some moments of being in Grade 5 and wanting to belong and wanting to fit in and wanting to be like everyone else but wanting to be like yourself but wanting to be super cool with keeping the integrity of who you really are and feeling the pull to be mean to someone that you decided wasn’t as cool as you but you really liked them and were torn about how to treat them and what if people saw you truly being you and truly being vulnerable would they really care anyway?
Whew.
Anywho…
That was not the point of this post.
Here’s the point… Which is funny because does anything I write ever really have a point?
Where was I?
Right.
I was having coffee at a friend’s house the day before the first day of school. My friend works for the school board and her daughter is an elementary school teacher. We were chatting about how Whirlwind was feeling about going to school. I made a light but totally true joke about how I had to get home and shower so I could look hot for when I did school pick up and drop off.
And because they are both full of experience in this subject; they both giggled.
“What?” I sighed.
“Oh, don’t worry about that.” My friend laughed.
“Yeah, it only lasts about a week.” Her daughter answered.
Then we all laughed about how ridiculous it was that I was worried about what I was going to wear to take my daughter to her first day of school.
Totally stupid.
But, they were right.
I saw my first Pajama Mom last week.
You go girl.
Let’s be best friends.
FYI: I pretty much only wear pajamas so I am shocked that this is the only photo (above) I can find with me wearing pajamas. I must be pretty quick on the draw with that delete button.
