Significant disruption of drug trade realized

Over the past quarter the Cranbrook RCMP Enhanced Response Unit has continued to focus its investigations on individuals involved in the sale of illicit drugs in the community.

The drug trade negatively impacts the entire community, often with outsized harm caused to some of our most vulnerable citizens.

In respect to efforts led by the Enhanced Response Unit, significant disruption of the drug trade has been realized.

During these investigations members of the unit have removed a significant amount of controlled substances from the community including 1.4 kg of fentanyl, 3.1 kg of methamphetamine, and 4.9 kg of cocaine.

The combined street value of these seized drugs is in excess of $1 million. In addition to the drugs, $123,295 in Canadian currency and two unregistered firearms have been seized.

A variety of charges, including possession for the purpose of trafficking, are being recommended against three adult males in relation to these investigations.

“The Cranbrook RCMP continue to target and investigate those involved and who are contributing to the drug supply in our community. This is a great example of the hard work and proactive enforcement being conducted by the Cranbrook RCMP,” said Cpl. Parker of the Enhanced Response Unit.
