Snow removal operations open house Tuesday

Learning about City of Cranbrook annual snow removal operations is behind a public open house scheduled for Tuesday, November 21.

Representatives from Canadian Mental Health’s Snow Angels – a volunteer snow removal team – will be an important part of the event, looking to recruit volunteers to help clear snow from driveways, walkways and sidewalks of those residents who may not be able to do it themselves.

Other topics for the evening will include: the city’s volunteer program around equipment signup and registration along with volunteer efforts for extraordinary snow events, use of salt and sand, priority snowplowing routes and customer service.

Provided the weather cooperates, the city will also have several pieces of its snow removal equipment on site for the public to see and kids to get to climb into and look around.

Residents are invited to learn and visit with city staff at the Manual Training School at the Cranbrook Public Library from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday November 21. Warm drinks will be served.
