Due to traffic congestion during the winter months on 24th Avenue South from 2nd Street South to 1st Street South, and 23rd Avenue North from 2nd Street North to 4th Street North, on-street parking is prohibited by the City of Cranbrook.

The parking prohibition is because of snowbanks that are left by snow plowing activities. City council resolved in November 2009 to prohibit parking in these areas from December 1 to March 31 every year.

These restrictions are required to ensure free flow of traffic to and from East Kootenay Regional Hospital, particularly for emergency vehicles.

This location will be patrolled on a regular basis by City of Cranbrook Bylaw Services, regardless of the weather or road conditions. The prescribed fine for being unlawfully parked in the posted area is $25.
