Three bicycles stolen off back of vehicle
Two recovered, one still missing
Cranbrook RCMP is asking for the public’s help to find a stolen bicycle after three bikes were stolen overnight from a hotel parking lot on Van Horne Street South.
This morning, officers responded to a report of three bicycles stolen during the night. The bikes were locked on a bike rack on the back of a vehicle.
With quick action from Constable Procter and the owner, police were able to locate and recover two of the bikes within hours of the theft being reported.
One bicycle, however, remains missing. Police are urging residents to be on the lookout for the remaining bike, a light grey Stump Jumpers with purple handle grips (grips not pictured). If spotted please contact the detachments non-emergency line.
Police are also reminding the public not to leave bicycles on vehicles overnight, even if they are locked. Thieves can quickly bypass most locking systems, and securing bikes inside a garage or residence is the safest option.
If you have any information regarding the missing bicycle or saw suspicious activity in the area overnight, please contact the Cranbrook RCMP at [detachment phone number] or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
